Other web design companies gave us quotes that were much higher. Why are your prices much lower? Is the quality the same?
Our prices are lower because we build our sites using open-source components and pre-configured templates. Other companies may be charging you for the man-hours put into custom coding your site, for proprietary software, or for custom design. While there certainly is a place for that type of work, we realized that in most situations we can far exceed the expectations of departments while keeping costs down. This is why we chose to specialize in the parks and recreation industry, a field we know well. As far as quality...please experiment with our demo sites, visit the sites we've built for other clients, and read the testimonials - they speak for themselves.
The kid down the street says he can build a website for us for a couple hundred bucks. Why pay for your services?
The kid down the street may be an excellent solution. Before you roll the dice, be sure to ask for examples of his previous work and spend some time doing some comparison. If you are not looking for a dynamic site with all of the features we offer, then there may be some lower-cost alternatives. When you are ready to take your site to the next level we will be happy to talk to you.
I love the features you have to offer, but I have my own ideas for the site design. Can you do a custom design for our site?
In order to minimize costs, we base all websites off of a few solid templates. The templates we use are well-designed and we know that they will integrate with the features we offer. These templates offer a good deal of flexibility as far as the positioning of menus and elements, the number of columns, the size of various elements, etc. We can also customize the color scheme for you. However, this is the extent of the customization that we offer based on the pricing on the site. If you want a rainbow-colored website in the shape of a unicorn....sorry, that's not how we roll.
We have some specific (custom) features that we would like added to our site. Can you accommodate our request?
Maybe. We keep our costs down by keeping to our core features; however, if your request is something we can easily integrate, we will be happy to do the extra work for an added fee. RecWebsites is always testing new features that may eventually be added to our packages or as stand-alone products. See our blog for updates.
How quickly can you build our site?
The turn-around time varies depending on the number of development requests we have. We aim to have your site finished in about two months, though it could take a bit longer. You can speed things up by having all of your content and photos ready in an electronic format.
Do you do websites for non-recreation related businesses?
RecWebsites.com is specifically geared toward recreation-related businesses (Parks and Recreation Departments, YMCA's, Fitness Clubs, Recreation Centers, etc.). Our parent company, Catamount Web Solutions, LLC, does website development for businesses in other fields. Please note that the packages and pricing listed on this website are specific to RecWebsiets.com.
What methods of payment do you accept? How does the payment process work?
We accept checks. We require half of the website development payment up-front, with the remainder to be paid upon the completion of your website. We will invoice you for hosting and maintenance fees either quarterly or annually (whichever is easiest for you).
I'm nervous about updating the website. What skills do I need to have?
Updating your new website is a breeze. You will learn in no time. In fact, if you have used a word processor before (such as Microsoft Word) then you already have the skills to update the content on the site. Yes, it is that easy. We will guide you though the steps of how to do other tasks such as adding images, videos, and new menu items. Once you've done it a time or two you will be a pro.
How secure are the websites you develop?
We take every effort to keep your site secure. The administrative areas of the site require a username and password. We can configure multiple user accounts with different access levels if necessary. We regularly backup your data and update your site to the latest security patches. We do not use SSL or encrypt the data on your site, since you will not be storing sensitive information such as bank account numbers, credit card info, social security numbers, etc. If you want this added layer of security we can add it for you.
How reliable are your sites?
The servers we host your site on guarantee 99.9% up-time. There may be an occasional hickup...but they are very few and far between. If you or someone else manages to break your site, we have backups to get you back up-and-running as quickly as possible.
What kind of training do you provide?
We provide two-hours of training (over the phone or internet) for every site we create. The content management is pretty easy to learn. In addition, we have written documentation, video tutorials, and a discussion forum available on our website. Additional live training is available for a fee. We are willing to travel and provide in-person training if desired (maybe a good idea if may people will be updating the site).
