Update. I was able to meet with staff from NRPA in the Fall of 2010 to provide input on their online network and discuss strategies for making it more useful. In the winter of 2011 they launched a new and much improved product. Participation seems to be much greater already.

Kathy, Thanks for the encouragement. I'm considering reviving Rec2.0 as more of a resource/blog site with some of the original content and some new. For now I still intend to leave the online networking to NRPA. Unfortunately NRPA's network has been a big flop thus far. We actually had more interaction happening on Rec2.0 in the first few months than they have (and they are starting with 5,000+ existing members). Wish I could rebuild theirs and help market it. We will see.

Hi Ryan, I'm sorry to hear about Rec 2.0. I was one of those users who soaked everything up. I was sad to see it go. After you stopped awarding points for things, I did notice that there wasn't a lot of traffic on it, and I was disappointed that people may have been on just for that. Too bad. Good luck on this new venture. I hope it works out for you. -Kathy Codella
